Pest Problem- eliminated

So the other night Adam and I had some friends over, and the boys decided it was time to kill the carpenter bees. wasp and hornet killer, a little fire, and some boys having fun acting like 15 year olds for a good 20 minutes...Sorry to my neighbors who were possibly woken up at 10 pm by axes, hammers, laughter, and us girls screaming every time a bee buzzed it's way out of the shelf.... We made a memory, tore the shelf to shreds, and killed all the bees! Success!!
When it was all said and done...
This is what the inside of the tunnels looked like... each compartment was filled with some sort of "bee's wax"(haha) and I'm assuming the eggs were also inside
The pile of wood

So if anyone wants to know how to kill carpenter bees, maybe you shouldn't ask us haha... This shelf was an un-important storage area in our garage that needed to be cleaned up anyways and came with the house when we moved in, so we just demolished it, and the bees with it.

And another thing, if you are going to stand and watch, please control yourself. Keep the squeels to a minimum, and don't hit yourself in the face with a mag-light like I did. I'm usually pretty fearless, but bees give me the willies!! I was holding a large mag-light for Adam so he could see, and some little fly or gnat got in my face, I screamed and nailed myself in the cheek with the mag-light.... ouch! No bruise thankfully haha... all I'm saying is if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen... I had to let someone else take over the flashlight responsibility, I obviously can't take the heat.

Pest Problem....

We have Carpenter bees outside on our utility shelf! For 2 weeks now I kept hearing this ticking sound and I knew it was a mouse or anything, so I did some research, and I'm about 99.9% sure it's Carpenter Bees... Now what??!!!?? I cleaned everything off the shelf, but if there's one thing I don't do, it's BEES!!! Adam is going to try to drag the shelf to the road for the garbage man to come pick up, but I'm scared to think what we're going to find when we pull that shelf off the wall... Hope they haven't burrowed into the house!! :-/

If you look closely you can see 2, half in. round holes... Apparently the bees burrow into the wood and make tunnels throughout it to form a nest. These are the only holes i have discovered so far, but by the amount of sawdust I have found, I know there are more...

Remodel...

After all the puppies left we decided it was time for a change. First it was important that we clean our rug, because it got peed and pooped on more than once during this puppy adventure. So we rented a rug doctor and cleaned 3 rugs at my house plus my recliner(I also went and cleaned 3 of my Mother-in-law's rugs, and her couch!! I was busy those 2 days haha) After the cleaning we decided since everything was already off the rug, why don't we move things around a bit!! So, after trying a few different things we finally settled with an awesome new arrangement, that opens up the living room a whole lot more!!! As a bonus, my mother-in-law bought us a wall mount for our TV, which makes everything look 20 times better!!(Thanks Anita :) :) We love it!) After the remodel I was still in clean mode, so I cleaned Tori's toys, and moved them around a bit. Man it feels good to get stuff done!! Wish I had a before and after shot, but all I have is this picture of Adam and Tori vaccuming off the rug after it had been cleaned... cute pic anyways :) I'm so happy with the end result, and now we have a nice, cozy living room with a lot more room than there was before :)
